Castro Ranch Rd.

Grazing Fields off Castro Ranch Rd. - 5"x7" Watercolor/Gouache on Clayboard

This shouldn't really count as an Early Bird painting, since it was done pretty late in the morning, but oh well! I wasn't planning on painting, but happened to have my painter's box with me when I saw this view I've driven past many times. Unfortunately, I had very little water to work with, so I had to make do with dirty brushes and barely any washes. The irony of it all is that it started raining as soon as I was done.

my god Mike,
this might be one of my favorite of yours. you totally got the feeling of "a moment before rain." I actually love the dry brush effect too.

Wow Mike ! Maybe the lack of water wasn't a bad thing, according to the great quality of your picture. This one got an amazing mood .
Bravo, Mike ! :D

I agree with everything that was stated above and I can just about feel that rain coming in those clouds!
